Teacher Training Program

Elite Dance Academy is extremely proud to unveil its new Teacher Training Program for it’s inaugural 2011-2012 year. We believe that first having good teachers, then observing good teachers and finally mimicking good teachers will produce good teachers, and here at Elite we are proud to offer a three year program that will prepare our senior students for employment in the dance world upon graduation from the program.

Interviews for acceptance into the three-year program will take place on SATURDAY, AUGUST 13th, 2011.

Any student wishing to be considered for a Teacher Training position must register by e-mail for an interview time between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. on August 13th., and arrive with a completed application form. Please note that applicants must be 15 years of age and over to be considered for the program. In addition, while the program itself is free of charge, Teacher Training students must take a minimum of four classes a week to remain enrolled in the program.

Students in the Teacher Training Program will:

  • Assist classes in the style they wish to eventually teach.
  • Students in Year 1 of the Program will assist 1 class, students in Year 2 of the Program will assist 2 classes and students in Year 3 of the program will assist 3-4 classes. Year 3 students will also be used as substitute teachers (paid positions).
  • Assist in the creation of year-end show choreographies (Year 2 and 3).
  • Be provided with written study material to enhance their hands-on training.
  • Receive written evaluations twice per year regarding their progress in the Program (in December and May).
  • Be given special responsibilities at Elite events.
  • Receive a certificate of completion that will allow them to seek employment with Elite or other dance studios upon completion of the Program.
